Hundreds of young people in Sankontshe, Ward 5 outside Hammaradsale west Durban today scored a huge victory again illiteracy and lack of educational and knowledge facilities as they welcomed the construction of a new R4,7 million modular library.
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba who came into introduce the contractor to the community and turned a sod said facilities like these build communities. The prefabricated structure will be built in the local Sizakala Centre precinct and will boast over 3000 books, ebooks, computers, children play area and ablution facilities upon completion.
Construction will commence on the 7th of Februarry by KwaNgwane Contracting. Mahlaba urged the contractor to source their labour and material locally. Ward 5 Councillor Sibusiso Ngcongo said the modular library will also help children and enhance their learning ability and will play a huge role local matriculants.
