Community Briefing at Mthonjaneni War Room
Honorable Mntomuhle Khawula is currently participating in a community briefing at the Mthonjaneni War Room. The purpose of this briefing is to facilitate a gathering between the community and relevant stakeholders to hear and address their concerns. As the briefing is still in progress
Report: Mthonjaneni Community Briefing
Ward Report
Councilor Mr Mchunu presented the Ward Report :
– 13 beneficiaries for housing
– 12 approved, 1 outstanding
– Special house for damaged houses: only 4 were repaired
Community Concerns.
The community raised the following concerns:
– Ward 7 needs assistance with houses damaged by natural disasters
– Access roads are still a problem
– Water pipes crossing the road are not safe.
– King Cetshwayo district:
– 2 boreholes are not working
– Water supply is not accessible to all
– Need new toilets (requests sent, no response)
– Sport field: working perfectly
– Electricity project: ongoing
Departmental Reports
– Agriculture: attends war room briefings and assists with agricultural resources
– Social Development (DSD): attends war room briefings and provides support
The Honorable MEC for Sports, Arts, and Culture, Mntomuhle Khawula, addressed the community at the Mthonjaneni War Room . He expressed concern regarding the lack of attendance by government departments at war room meetings .
1. Workshops for Department Officials: The MEC assured the community that workshops will be conducted to address the matter of departmental attendance at war room meetings.
2. Appreciation to Agriculture Department: The MEC applauded the Agriculture Department for their commendable work .
3. Community Safety: The MEC emphasized the importance of community safety and expressed concern that officials are not taking community issues seriously .
4. Department of Transport Report: The MEC was pleased with the report and progress of the Department of Transport .
5. DSAC Operational Structure: The MEC expressed dissatisfaction with the operational structure of DSAC, highlighting that hired personnel do not fulfill their duties until the contract ends .
6. Importance of Collaboration: The MEC stressed the importance of working hand in hand with the Councilor to provide good community service .
